Zentangle Continued
Guest Presenter, Kati Searcy

President Sue Rye reviewed the 2012 Graceful Envelope Contest  rules. She brought in a book of winning envelopes, some of whom were created by SDFC members. We are all encouraged to participate. Sue also spoke of  the Illuminated Manuscript exhibit at the Getty. Rose Smutko, Workshop assistant, explained how traveling with Day Trippers can be make going to the Getty more feasible. (Contact them soon; there are still seats left for the January 21st trip.) Then Rose presented next year’s proposed workshop Calendar. Remember these dates when you make plans for 2012-2013.

Dick Blick is presenting a Handmade Journal Demo February 18 from 1-3 p.m. Free with journal kit available for purchase. And don’t forget, there are still two workshops remaining for this calligraphic year: Jane Shibata’s one-day workshop, Flourishing, in March, and Doug Boyd’s Having the most fun you can have with your Parallel Pens, in May.

Following the business portion of our meeting, Kati Searcy, Worskhops Chair and Past President, presented a lesson in Zentangles. There was review for some and new patterns for all as Kati demonstrated that “anything is possible one stroke at a time.”
