The Creative Process...What Came First, the Chicken or the Egg?”
Guest Lecturer, Carrie Imai

Have you ever sat at your desk faced with the dreaded blank piece of paper? Whatever the fear of the “white page” springs from, it is a real fear and a pressure we lace upon ourselves to perform. In the process of creating art, before perspiration must come inspiration. Where does that inspiration spring from? How do we jumpstart our creativity? Carrie addressed some of these issues through a slide show and handout on the principles of design. Then, to our delight, she gave us play time: containers of paint and ink, unusual tools, and lots of paper and encouragement.

This was a wonderful first meeting for the 2006-07 calligraphic year.
