Ephemera is a term used to embrace a wide range of minor, everyday items, mostly documents intended for one-time or short-term use. Objects easily overlooked. Matters of passing interest. Labels, envelopes, rough drafts, color studies, bookmarks, postcards, magazine clippings, brochures, stamps, napkins and place cards. Objects, baubles, toys. Miscellaneous. Et cetera. Et al.
Ephemera includes the inexplicable things we can't bear to throw away. The scraps that excite us. The bits and the pieces that inspire us. Ephemera can be anything you want it to be: anything with a word, a stroke, or a color that makes your heart go pitter-patter.
In short, this exhibit-within-an-exhibit celebrates those items that have somehow survived to delight our eyes, feed our minds, and offer unique glimpses into ourselves. They are as much a part of our 25 years as the pieces we toil over and frame. If finished art is our heart, then ephemera is our soul.
Ephemera only has value to those who enjoy the process of discovery. All these ephemeral items are touchable and explorable. Please play!
